On 26 April 2021, the Permanent Mission of Kyrgyzstan to the United Nations and the Group of Friends of Mountainous Countries will host the side event “Mountain forests’ restoration: a path to recovered, resilient and sustainable mountain countries and communities” in the margins of the 16th session of the United Nations Forum on Forests.
Co-organized by the Mountain Partnership Secretariat, the event aims to contribute to the protection of mountain forests and the sustainable use of their resources, to assist mountainous Member States and local communities in building resilient economies to achieve the goals of the 2030 Agenda.
The event will open with interventions from Mirgul Moldoisaeva, Permanent Representative of Kyrgyzstan to the UN; Doma Tshering, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bhutan to the UN; Néstor Popolizio, Permanent Representative of Peru to the UN; and Maria Francesca Spatolisano, Assistant Secretary-General for Policy Coordination and Inter-Agency Affairs, United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs.
